Mental Health Matters

Many people carry anxiety, depression, grief, stress, trauma, or emotional exhaustion — quietly. Sometimes we assume faith means we should be “fine,” but Scripture shows us that even faithful people experienced fear, sadness, weariness, and deep distress.

God meets us with compassion, not shame.

If you are struggling, you are not weak. You are human. And you are not alone.

SCRIPTURE

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

— Psalm 34:18

Signs to Pay Attention To

Click each one to learn more. You may need extra support if you are experiencing any of these.

Persistent Sadness or Hopelessness
If feelings of deep sadness or hopelessness last more than two weeks, this may be a sign of depression. You are not broken — you may simply need support, and that is okay. Please talk to someone you trust.
Anxiety or Panic
Ongoing anxiety, worry, or panic attacks can be exhausting and isolating. Many people experience these silently. Anxiety is treatable and you do not have to white-knuckle your way through it alone.
Trouble Sleeping
Sleep disturbances — whether insomnia or sleeping too much — are often signs that something deeper is going on emotionally or physically. Rest matters. Your body is communicating something important.
Loss of Interest in Things You Enjoy
When things that used to bring you joy no longer feel meaningful, this can be an early warning sign of depression or burnout. You deserve to experience joy again.
Withdrawing from Family or Friends
Pulling away from people who love you is a common sign that something is not right. Community is part of God’s design for healing. Let someone know how you are really doing.
Emotional Numbness
Feeling disconnected, empty, or unable to feel anything can be a sign of trauma, depression, or exhaustion. You do not have to stay in this place.
Feeling Overwhelmed and Unable to Function
When daily tasks feel impossible or you struggle to show up for your responsibilities, it is time to reach out. This is not a character flaw — your mind and body need support.

Practical Next Steps

1. Connect with Someone

Talk with a trusted friend, pastor, counselor, or doctor. You were not meant to carry this alone.

2. Get Outside

Take a short walk outside. Movement and fresh air have a measurable positive impact on mood and anxiety.

3. Build a Rhythm

Create a simple daily routine of prayer, Scripture, and rest. Small consistent rhythms build stability.

4. Seek Professional Help

There is no shame in seeing a therapist or counselor. Seeking help is wisdom, not weakness.

“The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

— Psalm 34:18
